Le Bénaton offers a unique selection of over 35 various types of specialty cheese mostly from Burgundy and Franche-Comté loved by the French who have been away from home and a delight to the adventurous palates.
We have an outstanding selection of aged Comtés, from soft and buttery (12 months) to fruity and spicy with the aged ones (40 months), a rarity that must be tried. Amateurs of Epoisses and similar cheese, with rind washed in Fine de Bourgogne or wine, will find a selection of specialties to choose from. Whether it is rich triple cream found in classics such as Brillat Savarin or specialty fromager cheese with unique flavours, some make excellent aperitif cheese to share among friends before a meal or as a treat any time of the day. Our Morbier and Tomme du Jura au lait cru (raw milk) are intense, and not to be missed!

Regal Raisins - A specialty fromager cheese with a Brillat Savarin base enhanced by raisins soaked in Marc de Bourgogne and Eau de Vie de Mirabelle. A treat to share before or after dinner, like a glass of Marc or an eau de vie. |

Comte "Granit" Grande Reserve 40 months -A great classic pressed cooked cheese from Jura. A unique reserve, crumbly and very dense with a grainy crystallised texture, combines intense fruity and salty flavours, can be enjoyed on its own or shaved to enhance a dish. |

Cancoillotte Ail Rose - Cancoillotte is a specialty from Jura. A semi liquid cheese with a pale yellow colour belonging to the category of cooked cheeses. It is a by-product of Comté cheese, after the press the whey is cooked with butter and salt resulting in this light yet very flavourful cheese which is almost fat and calorie-free. Good for diets, as it can be a good source of calcium without the fat. Pink garlic is added in the process giving it a very edgy and addictive character. |
